24th IMC Ladies’ Wing Jankidevi Bajaj Puraskar 2016 honours Smt. Pabiben Rabari,Founder of


In an endeavour to honour the contribution and achievements of Women Entrepreneurs across rural India, the coveted 24th IMC Ladies’ Wing Jankidevi Bajaj Puraskar 2016 was conferred on Smt. Pabiben Rabari. The award was presented by the Chief Guest, Mr. Aditya Puri – Manging Director, HDFC Bank and Guest of Honour – Mrs. Tara Sharma Saluja – Actress, Entrepreneur, Creator, Co – Producer and Host of The Tara Sharma Show.

The award recognizes women entrepreneurs for their extraordinary and outstanding entrepreneurial excellence in rural India. It is focused on discovering and honouring women entrepreneurs who are dedicated towards rural upliftment and business entrepreneurship. This initiative encourages more women to launch scalable and venture capital funded businesses.

Elaborating on this award, Mrs. Radhika Nath – President, Ladies’ Wing said, “Through Jankidevi Bajaj Puraskar, we seek to create a benchmark and a platform to recognize the work of women entrepreneurs across rural India. Smt. Pabiben Rabari undoubtedly encapsulates this year’s theme: SOAR – Rise to your potential. Rising above numerous obstacles, she has established, a women’s artisan enterprise. Her dedication and commitment to her work has inspired many women to fulfill their own potential, and in doing so, to seek to become economically independent and self- confident. In this way, we endeavor to use our recognition and encouragement of their exemplary work, to further empower many women entrepreneurs at the grassroots level. “

Receiving the award, Smt. Pabiben Rabari stated “I am very grateful to the Ladies’ Wing of IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry  for the respect you have given me in inviting me all the way from my small village in Kutch to address this august audience. This honour is not just mine but is recognition of the arts and crafts of Kutch. It is an honour that I share with all the fellow crafts women associated with my work. Today’s award makes me very happy. It will inspire me to do better work.”

Kutch is celebrated for its art, crafts, music, dance and people. Pabiben is one of the true brand ambassadors to represent the colourful Kutch district. A vibrant Rabari lady, she has become an inspiration and an idol to many in her community. aspires to help women become independent and empowered to shape their own future, those of their families and future generations. It aims to inspire the village women to create their own identity with the help of their artistic talent.

Mr. Aditya Puri – Managing Director, HDFC Bank addressed  on the topic ‘Financial inclusion and micro-finance in rural business entrepreneurship’. He stated that the power of technology and banking can help create more Women Entrepreneur like Pabiben.

Mrs. Tara Sharma Saluja spoke on the subject ‘Women: Finding a voice through work’. She stated that women urban or rural does not matter, it’s the passion of entrepreneurship that matters. One should not wait for opportunities rather create one for yourself and others”.
