93.5 RED FM to change way tourists commute with campaign ‘RAIL BANA DENGE’

93.5 RED FM India’s largest private radio network is all about picking up relevant issueswith its ongoing campaign -‘RAIL BANA DENGE’ in collaboration with UN Environment and Indian Railways. Its summer time again, that time of the year when every family pack their bags to explore their favourite destinations. Indian Railways being the biggest mode of transport for the country witnesses highest tourist traffic during this period. And this is the time when the railway stations see maximum littering! Through this initiative RED FM will make sure that from the porter to the Railway announcements, everything reminds the travelersnot to use plastic and litter wastes like chips packets or water bottles while traveling.
RED FM has set live on-air booths at various locations across Delhi/NCR Railway stations. RED FM’s No.1 RJ Raunac along with other RED FM RJs and Bollywood celebrities go live from these on-air booth to pledge that they will not throw plastic with the slogan of “Rail banadenge”.RJ Raunac aka Bauaa in his slapstick funny style is also giving public messages on cleanliness that are amplified and played on the railway station’sPA system. The live show started on 30th Mayat Old Delhi Railway Stationfollowed by AnandVihar on 1st June. The show is scheduled to run from New Delhi, Ghaziabad and Nizamuddin stations as well.
Speaking about the campaign, Nisha Narayanan, COO, RED FM said, “Indian Railways isthe third-largest railway network in the world and runs more than 13,000 passenger trains daily. Every day the railway station sees a sea of people from all sections of the society. On this Environment Day RED FM focuses to change the way people behave is a railway station. The team is onground to interact with the commuters this summer vacation to pledge a #SaafJourneyand not litter in the railway station. Everyone should be aware of this scary fact that by the year 2050, earth will be buried under 12.5 Billion tons of plastic. Rail Budget presented in 2015, 2016 and 2017, series of measures to improve the cleanliness of stations were announced to take forward the momentum of ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat’. One of the measures announced in Feb’2016 Budget is ranking of A1 and A category stations based on regular periodic third-party audit and feedback from passengers, with a view to identify unclean spots/gaps and improve cleanliness standards and propel healthy competition amongst railway stations. The same is being incorporated in trains.The countdown to this year’s World Environment Day on June 5 has begun and India being the global host for the 44th edition of the event is all set to lead the charge of this year’s theme – ‘Beat plastic pollution’. As a first step, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has banned plastics in all protected areas around the country, by declaring them “plastic free zones”.
