The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, Delhi a landmark for both business and leisure travellers in the city is hosted the National Tourism Day organized by The Indigenous Federation of Tourism India (TIFTI).

Mr. Jaideep Anand, General Manager of The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel said, “It is an honour and a privilege to be associated with The Indigenous Federation of Tourism India and be a part of such a special day. We are glad to be able to help foster the spirit of celebration of the National Tourism Day amongst the various participants belonging to the numerous stakeholders of the tourism industry.”

National Tourism Day was celebrated for the first time in the history of Indian Tourism post-independence on 25th January 2017. The agenda of the event was one billion tourists; one billion opportunities. This day was established by the Indian government to raise awareness on the importance of tourism for the country’s economy. Tourism plays a crucial role in contributing to the overall growth and sustainability of the destination and the local communities by creating direct and indirect jobs. Also, it brings together people of different cultures and regions to foster better mutual understanding. TIFTI is committed to institute a healthy operational framework for the tourism fraternity.

The event saw the presence of various respected dignitaries from the world of travel and tourism that participated in the event and presented their thoughts on various aspects of the tourism industry through a variety of sessions. The event also witnessed cultural performances from different regions of the Indian sub-continent and also paid a tribute to the upcoming republic day.

India’s rich history and cultural diversity makes it one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the world. Celebrating a day specifically dedicated to promoting the bounteous tourism industry known for showcasing the country’s cultural background and traditional customs is a step in the right direction.
