Nokia’s #KhamoshiKhatam Alka Yagnik Concert Brought Back Cheer To Senior Citizens’ Lives

This Christmas, your trusted mobile brand, Nokia enlivened the lives of your grandparents by bringing a gala event at their doorstep. The iconic brand has launched a unique #KhamoshiKhatam campaign to showcase the gala concert specially curated for the senior citizens who are often left out of such events. The event featuring Alka Yagnik was available on Nokia Media India’s website and social platforms.

  • HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, in association with HelpAge India, encourages the country’s youth to care for our senior citizens.
  • Every share of the concert video that went live on 28th December 2020 at 6:30 pm (IST)on the Nokia Mobile India social handles will see HMD donate funds to HelpAge India. The video is available for sharing on Facebook and Instagram.

Speaking about the program, Singer, Alka Yagnik said, “It was a pleasure to associate with #KhamoshiKhatam and sing exclusively for our senior citizens as a surprise this festive season. It is great to be performing online and chatting away with our senior citizens on Zoom. It’s a pleasure for any artist to be part of the lives of our senior citizens and to be able to bring festive cheer.”

Encouraging the Youth To Reconnect With the Old

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, has joined hands with HelpAge India, a charity working for disadvantaged older persons, to roll out a nationwide campaign, #KhamoshiKhatam, that helps take away the loneliness faced by senior citizens during the pandemic and encourages the country’s youth to remember, reconnect and rejuvenate their relationship with senior citizens.

As part of the campaign, on 26th December, a surprise, the virtual concert was organized atsixHelpAge India homes with a live performance and chat by the celebrated singer artist, Ms. Alka Yagnik, exclusively for the senior citizens. 

  • During the performance, Ms. Yagnik sang the soothing video rendition of the 90s song- Ek Din Aap Yun Humko Mil Jayenge…
  • Over a tete-a-tete with the senior citizens after the performance, Ms. Yagniktalked with those attending about their love for music, the challenges of living in a lockdown, and how the online concert marked a joyous end to a somber year for the elderly.

A video that captures the essence of this heartwarming campaign on livening up festive season for our senior citizens went live on 28th December.  With every share it garners across social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram it will secure a donation from HMD that will go to HelpAge India.

Bringing Some Positivity Back Into Their Lives

Sonali Sharma, Head Communications, HelpAge India said, “Senior citizens have been the hardest hit during the Covid-19 pandemic, not only in terms of it affecting their health and livelihood, but also forcing them to deal with anxiety, depression and a feeling of isolation. Those living in old age homes were virtually cut off from the outside world. The silence was deafening. Making Support Available for Senior Citizens
