Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating the love you have for someone special. Indian cinema for years has served as inspiration for many real life love stories and has given us the truest filmy way to sweep people off their feet. How about spending this month with some of Bollywood’s finest romance flicks that will take you back in time? Sony MAX2 has curated a line-up with a wide variety of films that are iconic and commemorate some of the most memorable love stories that fans can watch. So grab some popcorn, get out some warm blankets and catch them all!

1.        Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge (1995):

Raj and Simran have been couple goals for almost 25 years. Their iconic love story was captured by the movie that still strikes a chord with every cinephile in India. This is a movie which made people trust in the concept of “Love knows no boundaries” – true love will find a way. Here is a story where Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) meets Simran (Kajol) in Europe, where they begin their journey as friends but realise that they are in love only when they part ways as Simran’s conservative father, Baldev Singh (Amrish Puri) finds her a suitor in India. 2.       Deewana (1992):

“Deewana”, the film of ultimate romance will definitely trigger some emotions. This movie will teach you to love, irrespective of the barrier that society creates to a widow, or any such evil social issue. It is a story of Ravi (Rishi Kapoor) and Kajal (Divya Bharti) who fall in love and get married. However, Ravi`s greedy uncle Pratap (Amrish Puri) and cousin Narender (Mohnish Behl) have a sinister plan up their sleeve that could end Ravi’s life. It is much later when Kajal tries to move on with the help of her mother-in-law (Sushma Seth) that she finds Raja (Shah Rukh Khan) who instantly falls for her. Ravi returns as Raja’s friend only to find his wife married to him and the story of his miscreant uncle unravels itself. Deceit, love and a complex twist? This is a sure nail biter representing the fight for love.

3.       Karan Arjun (1994)

While Karan Arjun’s iconic brotherhood has set sibling goals, this film is considered one of the best action movies ever made in Indian Cinema. 4.      Akhiyon Se Goli Maare (2002):

Along with Govinda’s comic timing, this film will make you fall in love too. This is a story where Bhangari Dada (Kadar Khan), who has an illegal shop at Chor Bazaar, wants his daughter, Kiran (Raveena Tandon), to get married to a gangster. Kiran, however, falls in love with Raj, a wealthy man, and convinces him to pose as a gangster to impress her father. A comical love story for every romance-loving cinephile. Laugh out loud to this caper on 22nd Feb at 7PM.

5.       Heer Ranjha (1992):

True love has been aptly depicted by the classic story of ‘Heer Ranjha’. This month, catch the age-old love story of Heer (Sridevi) and Deedho (Anil Kapoor), who disguises himself as a laborer going by the name ‘Ranjha’ in her father’s (Shammi Kapoor) house. Heer and Deedho were childhood sweethearts, separated because of family animosities, which have grown over the years and kept separated by Kaheda (Anupam Kher), whose leg was irreparably fractured by Deedho’s family and friends.
