Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) and Parliamentary Affairs addressed the board members of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), and laid his continued faith in the organisation, which has been working closely with the Ministry to streamline the skills ecosystem and also implements the Ministry’s flagship scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
He had a detailed discussion with members and observed the ongoing activities of the organisation. Shri Rudy urged the organisation to further strengthen itself and be aggressive in achieving the common goal of a Skilled India.
Shri Rudy stated that “NSDC is one of kind of Public Private Partnership in India which acts as catalyst for aggregating the industry, the academia and the public sector to ensure we achieve the Skill India Mission. The government has full faith in the organization’s ability and will extend all the guidance needed.”
He also emphasised on the need for creating model skill centres across the country which have good infrastructure and are also aspirational for the youth to join.
Re-stating his concern over the challenges that the ecosystem is facing with regard to participation from the industry, Shri Rudy further added “Investing in skills is investing in the country’s future. We need a job ready workforce to take up new job roles and opportunities that come our way with the increase in investment from the global companies in our market. We need the industry to steer the Skill India mission.”
The Board of Directors of NSDC comprises of 14 members with 6 from the government (including 2 nominee from the private sector) and 8 from the private sector. The Board is chaired by Mr. S. Ramadorai, Former Vice Chairman of India’s largest IT Company – Tata Consultancy Services. The Board brings to the table a combined experience and wisdom of almost 5 centuries.
