Shining a spotlight on products by emerging startups at the NASSCOM Product Conclave, DESIGN4INDIA’s Jury Choice Product Design Awards takes place on the 2nd and 3rd of November, 2017 at the Vivanta by Taj, Yeshwantpur.

DESIGN4INDIA’s Jury Choice Product Design Awards is a national award, conducted in collaboration with the NASSCOM Product Conclave and is considered to be a coveted business award for emerging companies and startups.

The 2017 Award nominees reflect a diverse group of large and small startups from across India. Over 500+ startups from India had submitted their nominations for the prestigious award, out of which only 20 have made the final cut after a rigorous assessment process by a 6 panel jury of Industry experts.

The 20 shortlisted companies will also present and pitch their products to the jury in a short 3 minute ‘elevator pitch’ format at Oval 2, Vivanta by Taj between 10am and 1pm on the 2nd of November, 2017. Only three companies would be announced as winners of the Product Design Awards on the 3rd of November 2017.

“To put India on the map of cutting-edge global innovators, designing for India is as crucial as designing in India. Today’s winners have demystified design thinking into a strategy for innovation, by applying a design mindset to differentiate the experiences of their products and services. We look forward to their continued success and thank Facebook for their support in this endeavor,” said Ravi Gururaj, Member Executive Council & Product Council, NASSCOM.

“At Facebook, we are passionate about design and are always working to inspire and foster innovation at the intersection of design and technology. Today’s awards are a step forward in our commitment to local design efforts in India and support emerging start-ups and developers, who are diffusing a design culture and building products to deliver great user experiences. We encourage the developer community in India to constantly experiment with better design tools to produce great designs more effectively.” said Satyajeet Singh – Head of Platform Partnerships, India and South Asia.

The Product Design Award nominations were evaluated by a six panel jury of product design experts, which include the likes of:

Satish Patil – General Manager at Samsung Electronics

Nitin Sethi – VP Product Design & User Experience at Quikr

Atul Manohar – Director of User Experience at Informatica

Savy Aluvathingal – Head of Design & Innovation at Moonraft Innovation Labs

Shashank Deshpande – Chief Design Officer, Asia at Globant

Naveen Bagalkot – Researcher & Program Lead at Srishti institute of Art and Design

How were these companies evaluated?

1) As a first step, we made it mandatory for all nominees to fill a survey about their products.

3) Responses of the survey were shared with the 6 member jury panel – and evaluated based on a ranking framework.

4) Basis the evaluation, a final shortlist of top 20 companies was chosen for the final round.

5) In the final round, the top 20 shortlisted companies will present their products for 3 mins each at the Product Conclave on 2nd of November 2017, between 11 am to 1 pm.

5) Three companies stand a chance to win the prestigious Product Design Awards, based on their product presentation to the jury.

The Awards will be presented to the winners on the 3rd of November 2017 between 3 pm and 4 pm.
