Nasscom Design4India Launches The Second Edition Of Design Awards In 2019

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) Design4India presents the second edition of Design Awards, a design competition celebrating the best design talent in India. The awards ceremony will commence following the NASSCOM Design4India’s annual flagship Design Summit, on 23rd August at Conrad, Bengaluru.

The Design Awards provides a platform for design-led enthusiasts to showcase their creations. With the design ecosystem in India maturing, the Design Awards aims to spur innovation in the fast-growing experience design sphere. The event attracts hundreds of designers and techies from leading companies across the globe.

Speaking on the occasion, Debjani Ghosh, President, NASSCOM said, “One of the major pillars on which NASSCOM stands today is INNOVATION. And design is intricately linked. The design ecosystem in India is maturing. More companies are building out good design in India and for India as well as servicing global clients. Our awards ceremony reiterates that design needs to be recognized and celebrated on a much larger scale than ever before.”

Applications are open to startups, corporates, design agencies, NGOs, design students and other design-led companies in the ecosystem. Participants can submit their creations in five categories – Web Design, Mobile Design, Immersive Design, Connected & Intelligence Design, and Digital Ergonomic Product Design. These categories reflect areas that exhibit great potential in terms of opportunity and demand in the design industry.

Applications will be evaluated will be on the basis of several parameters such as the product’s differentiator value, innovation level, sustainability, overall creativity, user-friendliness and aesthetics. Applications for the award ceremony will be judged and reviewed by a jury panel comprising of some of the most innovative minds in the global design and technology industry like – Alain Lonay, General Manager, Renault; Ravi Gururaj, Founder & CEO, QuikPod and President, TiE Bangalore; Lathika Pai, Country Head, Microsoft; Kiggie Mai Hvid, Member of Board of Directors, Lauritzen Foundation; Eric Cruz, Executive Director, AKQA Shanghai; Subinder Khurana, Venture Partner, Omnivore; Charulata Ravi Kumar, Managing Director, Accenture.

“Design as a tool for innovation has developed rapidly in recent years and is now incorporated in developing strategy and management of the final technology, product or service. Businesses today call for creativity and a creatively capable workforce to deliver a minimum viable product to the user. NASSCOM Design4India initiative is a stellar example of collaboration between the best designers and corporates, aiming to engage young entrepreneurs into becoming problem solvers and solution builders in the country.” said Sangeeta Gupta, Sr. Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, NASSCOM.

Winners will be felicitated at the awards ceremony and presented with the Golden Spiral Trophy and a digital awards badge. Winning entries will also be published in the media and the NASSCOM Design4India Design Awards portal and awards compendium. Finalists get an all-access pass to the Design Summit, where they can explore workshops, keynotes, fireside chats, product showcases and more, led by pioneers in the industry.
