10, 000 families participate in the 4th edition of Max Bupa Walk for Health

In keeping with its commitment to help people lead healthier and more successful lives, Max Bupa Health Insurance today hosted the fourth edition of its flagship event, Max Bupa Walk for Health, in Mumbai. Max Bupa Walk for Health is a first of its kind initiative which has been inspiring thousands of families to walk more to enhance their overall health and well being.

In an attempt to encourage the entire nation to walk more and discover the multiple benefits of walking, Max Bupa Walk for Health this year has transformed into a unique 33 day walking event which will touch upon 15 cities including Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Ahmedabad and Jaipur, and will conclude in Delhi on 14th February. The walk movement is being led by celebrated Olympic Walkers, namely, Manish Rawat, Sandeep Kumar, Gurmeet Singh and Khushbir Kaur, who will cover 1600 kilometer distance from Mumbai to Delhi on foot.

Talking about the fourth edition of Max Bupa Walk for Health, Ashish Mehrotra, MD and CEO, Max Bupa said, “As a committed health insurer, it is our endeavour to help our customers, partners, employees and the public at large to lead healthier and more successful lives. Over the past three years, we have successfully encouraged over 60,000 families to incorporate more walking into their daily lives. We are back with a unique format this year to inspire the entire nation to take a conscious step towards a healthier lifestyle. Adding impetus to the initiative are celebrated Indian Olympians, who will help us reach out to over 30, 000 families across cities, towns and villages during the course of this 33 day walkathon. “

The 33 day  event began with a mega walk in Mumbai today that witnessed an overwhelming participation by 10, 000 families including  people of all age groups, school children, large walking communities, colleges and corporates. The five kilometer walk was flagged off by the leadership team of Max Bupa including its Chairman Rajesh Sud, MD & CEO Ashish Mehrotra along with Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur.  Famous toon characters and Nimrat Kaur flagged off the two kilometer walk for children and senior citizens.

Extending support to the initiative, Akshay Kumar said, “Walking is an intrinsic part of my fitness regime. I strongly believe that walking is a great way to stay fit and encourage everyone to start walking, since it is one of the easiest and most effective ways to get healthier. I urge the whole of India to pledge to walk and take a step towards good health. Initiatives like Max Bupa Walk for Health are much needed since they emphasize on the benefits of the most natural form of exercise like walking. It was an exhilarating experience to be a part of this event and witness so many people walk together.”

“Regular walking should be practiced by all ages as it not only keeps you fit and energized but also makes you look fabulous and in-shape all the time. I’m a walking enthusiast and go for a regular morning walk to the beach. Walking is a great way for women to stay fit and I encourage everyone to start walking as it is the easiest and the best way to get healthy. Max Bupa Walk for Health in Mumbai was attended by many health enthusiasts, school children, customers, partners and employees of Max Group companies with their friends and family. Also a host of leading brands like Fitness First, Barista, Lotto Shoes, and GoQii among others associated with the health initiative this year. The event offered a plethora of entertainment and fitness activities and complimentary health checks to its participants.
