Under the Leaping Bunny programme, Garnier becomes the largest, most global brands Cruelty Free International has ever approved. For the whole beauty industry, this comes as a giant leap.

Michelle Thew, Cruelty Free International CEO “Garnier is a global brand familiar to us all. To work with them to help end animal testing for cosmetics and declare them officially approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny Programme is a real milestone. It has taken many months, but Garnier have diligently reviewed every supplier and source and we are completely confident with the results.
Including all raw material and individual ingredients, Leaping Bunny requires brands to forensically investigate their entire supply chain, for any cases of animal testing. This approval is not on individual products or they cannot be approved in isolation, approval must be given to all of a brand’s finished products.

Garnier had to grab this approval because, for it, this was a case of securing a declaration from more than 500 suppliers, who source more than 3,000 different ingredients, from across the world. Cruelty Free International and Garnier’s global portfolio can officially display the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny logo – the universally recognised cruelty free mark for which both worked together for months.

Garnier announced this as a landmark year for the brand. Garnier announced their Green Beauty initiative in 2020 which is a complete end to end approach to sustainability, transforming every stage of Garnier’s value chain and dramatically reducing the brand’s environmental impact.

Zeenia Bastani, General Manager, Garnier India said, “Garnier has been committed to a world without animal testing since 1989. To be officially approved by Cruelty Free International under the Leaping Bunny programme is a real milestone and an important part of our Green Beauty mission. The stringent certification process means that our consumers in India and the world over can buy Garnier products with complete confidence, knowing that they meet Leaping Bunny’s strict criteria.”

John Abraham, Garnier India Brand Ambassador said, Standing up against animal cruelty is something that I strongly believe in and it is fantastic that Garnier has been declared completely cruelty free. I am so proud to be associated with a brand like Garnier for 12 years, I no longer feel just like their brand ambassador. We resonate the same values, which is one of one of the reasons why I am a part of this family.”
