GoDaddy concludes unique tech building program, Web Build-A-Thon

GoDaddy, Inc recently concluded a unique tech building program, Web Build-A-Thon. As digital literacy becomes one of the biggest priorities in India, GoDaddy created this program exclusively for students and faculty members across the country to assist both faculties and students learn how to build successful websites. The program aimed to create an opportunity to develop enhanced digital and web development skills and GoDaddy created this program in association with SmartBridge, an Indian edTech platform providing e-learning on emerging technologies.

GoDaddy’s Web Build-A-Thon was launched on 28th December 2020 and saw more than 7600 participants join the program. It was eligible to all students and faculty members across engineering, computer sciences, MCA, business schools and polytechnic schools in India. 9 finalists were identified out of these, in the final project development challenge stage of the program. Then based on pre-set parameters and judging criteria, they were asked to create individual websites. Along with different cash prizes worth INR 50,000, all the finalists were recognized with GoDaddy Academy certification.

The top three winners who bagged first, second and third positions were Anisha Arya, Sandhiya Kanthakumar and Damarla Venkata Sai Chandana and they received INR 15,000, INR 12,000 and INR 10,000 respectively.

Including free web courses from GoDaddy Academy, the company’s first online training and certification program in India, the Web Build-A-Thon program started with three-day, hands-on online training. With tech boot camps and mentoring by SmartBridge experts guiding the participants on how to build a website, this was followed by 36 hours of project development challenge, powered by SmartInternz. Consisting of Corporate, Food & Drink, Education, Tourism, E-Commerce and Business, participants developed websites specific to different themes, as a part of the project.  The winners were judged on: the content of the website, website design, structuring, its functionality, functions and safety of the plugins (if any).
