MediBuddy’s initiative for a healthy unlearning : #BacchonSeSeekho

India’s largest digital healthcare platform, MediBuddy launched #BacchonSeSeekho, this World Health Day. The idea of this initiative is to unlearn everything we have learned as adults and relearn fresh from the kids around us. The adaption taken up by adults today due to the changing environment has taken a toll on the health.

During these challenging times due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The data from online consultations on MediBuddy’s app indicate an alarming number of 1 in every 5 5 young adults be dealing with lifestyle disorders – both physical & mental. One in every 10 women in India suffers from Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) & Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).  The data shows that since the onset of COVID, MediBuddy has recorded a 45% growth in consultations for weight management out of which 21% are obesity-related. The platform has also noted a significant surge with queries related to Diabetes & hypertension.

#BacchonSeSeekho compares the lifestyle habits of adults to those of children. There were stark differences that were observed. Adults’ adoption of lifestyle obstructs wellness. The campaign revolves around the same fact and encourages adults to unlearn these unhealthy routines and take up healthy practices.

Commenting on the idea which stands as the foundation behind the initiative, Satish Kannan, Co-Founder & CEO, MediBuddy said, “As a brand dedicated to healthcare, we believe that there is so much more we could do to further the progress of physical & mental healthcare in the country. Lifestyle Disorder is a serious health problem that should be given paramount importance. Through our data, we want to make people aware of the challenges it can pose and support individuals as they inculcate a healthier lifestyle.”

Commenting on the same, Dr. Gowri Kulkarni, Heads of Medical Operations, MediBuddy commented, “While there has been great progress in the treatment of individual diseases, chronic diseases continue to increase. There are ever-multiplying numbers of individuals whose well-being is compromised due to lifestyle diseases such as Diabetes, hypertension, heart disease. A very important contributing factor for these diseases is our faulty lifestyle including poor dietary habits, sedentary lifestyle, inadequate sleep, and chronic stressors. As kids, we learn all the good things – to eat right, to sleep on time, to go out and play, but when we grow up, our choices change owing to the fast-paced modern life. The hustle and bustle we are constantly surrounded with have been a force in altering our lifestyle habits. In managing work, family, and personal life, health takes a backseat.”

Most of the contributing factors for health issues amongst adults are unhealthy diets, irregular sleep patterns and, rising stress levels. MediBuddy’s thought-provoking initiative, #BacchonSeSeekho has left the audience in retrospect- “As kids, we learned all the healthy habits. Is it time to unlearn and go back to what we knew as kids?”
