UrbanClap, India’s largest mobile services marketplace officially launched their services in Hyderabad, recently. One of the first in this sphere in India, UrbanClap is a platform that aims to effortlessly connect consumers with service professionals.

The idea is to help people find the best services easily and provide the large base of individuals/small businesses with a platform to manage and grow their client network. Whether you’re looking for a plumber, a wedding photographer or a yoga teacher, you can find the right professional on UrbanClap without any hassle. You only need to take a few seconds, enter your requirements on their Android or iOS app and the platform will bring the professionals to you.

At present, UrbanClap is offering services in 42 categories in the city, including photographers, dieticians, web designers and yoga teachers. However, they plan to expand their service offering to over 60 categories in the coming month.

Abhiraj Bhal, Co-founder of UrbanClap, said “Growing up, when we were looking for service professionals such as wedding photographers, guitar instructors, or even plumbers, we found it difficult to find service professionals who matched our requirements. Existing options like Just Dial simply provided a list of professionals without focusing on our needs- that’s why we decided to start a platform that will make it easy to find and hire the right professional.

After our success in the Delhi/NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Pune, we knew that Hyderabad would be the next city to serve. As a rapidly growing city, which is a blend of tradition and innovation, Hyderabad is home to a diverse mix of people with different service needs. UrbanClap aims to be the go-to platform where the residents of the city can find the best experts for any service that they need. We plan to galvanize this space by connecting the talented musicians, photographers and other artists with those in need of their services.

Abhiraj and his two friends, Varun and Raghav came up with the idea of UrbanClap to solve a primary customer need in India. All three realised how fragmented the local services industry in the country really was and how difficult it could be to find and hire the right service professional. That’s when they decided they would leverage technology to structure the highly disorganized market of local services.

The business model is based on the premise of charging the listed professionals for the business they get through the platform. UrbanClap has already raised Rs10 crore in funding from SAIF Partners, Accel Partners and the founders of Snapdeal, Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal. The company also raised USD 10 million in Series A funding from existing investors, SAIF Partners and Accel Partners, earlier this year. Recently, the company announced that Ratan N Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons has also come on board as an investor.

Currently based out of Delhi-NCR, UrbanClap offers services in 80 categories across Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Pune and now, Hyderabad. Additionally, it has an extensive growth plan which involves expanding its reach to 10Indian cities and providing services across a 100 categories by the end of the year. It will also be strengthening its current workforce from the present 300 to about 500 by next year.
