The nation is under lockdown to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. People are working from home, students are switching to e-learning and partygoers are attending virtual concerts. Amidst this, some people are putting their lives on the line to fight this pandemic at the frontlines. National Geographic, taking its authentic and immersive storytelling style a notch higher, is standing in solidarity to salute the brave hearts by capturing their unique and inspiring stories through National Geographic India’s first film produced entirely at home on the topic. The film titled ‘Lockdown: India fights Coronavirus’ is scheduled to premiere on 22nd May at 9 PM on National Geographic.

The unique film has been virtually directed and produced without a single member of the crew stepping out of their houses. The teams have stitched together self-shot sequences and archival footage from the protagonists themselves to showcase an unseen and moving narrative of their daily battles. From their rigorous routine, to dedicated service and combatant spirit, the film is an attempt to acknowledge and showcase the heroic efforts of the Coronavirus warriors across fields. It features government leaders, police officers along with medical personnel and other heroes born out of the crisis.

Talking about the film, Anuradha Aggarwal, Head – Infotainment, English and Kids, Star India, says, “When we are safely locked in, they are out there… India’s brave men and women, leading from the front in this battle for humanity’s future, ‘Lockdown: India fights Coronavirus’ is our homage to their valiance. At National Geographic, we pride ourselves on being the home of premium factual storytelling. This project is also unique for being a completely “Made At Home” film. Our teams have been working doubly hard from remote locations, conducting interviews over video conferencing and using self-filmed videos and archival footage to tell this very special story.”

The film titled ‘Lockdown: India fights Coronavirus’, which will premiere on National Geographic on Friday, 22 May, 2020 is dedicated to getting the people of India meet the heroes on the frontlines of this battle.
