“Nikhil is my home, my place of comfort,” Bhumi Pednekar
An actor who dared to be different and a person who has never shied away from undergoing change for her various roles – Bhumi Pednekar is seen on the latest episode of Not Just Supper Stars. Joining her, is her confidante and a phenomenal designer Nikhil Thampi as they divulge interesting nuggets about their friendship with the show’s host and stand-up comedian Gunjan Utreja. Available as part of the Zee Prime English Pack, Zee Café is set to air the new episode where Bhumi opens up about her physical transformation and foray into Bollywood in a candid conversation on Not Just Supper Stars airing Sundays at 10 PM.
Talking about her roles and her lifestyle, Bhumi says, “I’m nothing like the women I portray on screen and that’s what I love. I get to play these varied roles, that are so away from me. Being an actor has changed nothing. My life’s still the same. I am a modern, ambitious, independent, girl living in Bombay. I’ve grown up here and it’s a big part of who I am.”
Looking back at her first movie and the efforts that she put for her transformation, Bhumi reveals, “I changed my life style and to lose weight, I cut myself off from the world. The only way to achieve the goal I had, was determination” She goes on to say that, “When it’s your first film, there is nervous energy, but the stakes are not that high. You don’t really know what’s going on and you’re quite lost. For me, the fact that I was doing a film which got released in theatres – this itself was a big deal, because this has been my childhood dream. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to this journey.” She adds, “Honestly, there are times when the film’s playing, I watch it and I go, ‘Oh My God!’. I fail to recognize myself. So, I’m quite proud of what I’ve done.”
Talking about her experience on her debut film, Bhumi reveals, “I am a foodie and hence, I had a blast on Dum Laga Ke Haisha!! I was getting paid, I got an opportunity to act and I got to eat. It couldn’t get any better!”
When asked about her friendship with designer-friend Nikhil Thampi, Bhumi reveals how they never discuss fashion. Speaking about her bond with Nikhil, she says, “Nikhil is my home, my place of comfort. I feel very secure with him. He’s dressed me for most of the major moments in my life. I think this is a friendship that is going to go on forever and it’s not dependent on either of our careers.”
