hoichoi, as promised to provide flooded content for the entire year, has revealed the exclusive first look of its upcoming ‘First Day First Show’, a new property to stream Bengali feature films, titled ‘Tangra Blues’. After Love Aaj Kal Porshu and Cheeni, this is Madhumita’s third movie venture and first-time pair-up with the talented actor and producer, Parambrata Chatterjee. Directed by National Award-winning Director Supriyo Sen and produced by Parambrata himself, Tangra Blues is a story about two individuals who pass through different high and lows of lives, wrestling with the memories of past and struggles of present to create a foundation of a hopeful future. After Detective, this is the next Bengali film that will have a direct-to-digital release on hoichoi. Madhumita and Parambrata Chatterjee will be seen playing the protagonists of the film along with Saimul Alam, Oishani Dey and Atmadeep Ghosh.

Extensively shot in one of the most notorious slums of Kolkata – Tangra; Tangra Blues tells the story of a young music-maker Joey (played by Madhumita), who escapes the glitz of Mumbai to reside in his father’s posh apartment adjacent to Tangra. In her course of living in Kolkata, she is fascinated by the performance of a music band, made solely out of the raw talents of young slum kids. With time she encounters Sanjib Mondal (played by Parambrata Chatterjee), the leader of the band and also an ex-gang member, who eventually changes the course of Joyee’s life. The film, in a nutshell, neatly depicts the turmoil in characters’ lives, their jubilant musical journey and violent gang wars, the politician-builder nexus- all of which come together to present a checkered landscape that emerges from the fringe of Kolkata where underdogs refuse to die and rewrite their destiny through music. The film, anticipated to be one of the biggest hits of hoichoi, is slated to release very soon on the platform.

Excited about working in this project, Madhumita, said, “I can’t contain my excitement related to the project. This is the first time I am working with Parambrata and Supriyo and the experience have been lovely by far. I fell in love with the script from the very beginning and knew I had to do something special with my character. The story of Tangra Blues is very deep and powerful and I hope it will live up to the expectations of the audience.”

Parambrata Chatterjee, who is playing Sanjib Mondal and also the producer of Tangra Blues, said, “I have an interesting character in the film. I would like to thank Supriyo for giving me this character and making me live it. Shooting for Tangra Blues has been a memorable experience with challenges and fun at the same time. Madhumita has been an amazing co-actor and both of us enjoyed a lot on the set.”
