Zee Cinema to air Akshay Kumar’s social drama ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ on 9th June

A woman threatens to leave her husband unless he installs a toilet in their home. To win back her love and respect, he heads out on a journey to fight against a society that is rigid in its thought process. Starring National Award-winning actor Akshay Kumar and versatile actress BhumiPednekar, Toilet: EkPrem Katha is the story of two love birds who part ways to change the ideologies of traditional Indian families while keeping the upliftment of the Indian society in mind. The social drama will air on Zee Cinema, Home of Blockbusters, under Shanivaar Ki RaatAkshayKeSaath on Saturday, 9th June, 2018 at 8pm.

Commercially and critically acclaimed, Toilet: EkPrem Katha is a perfect blend of humour, conflict and romance. The film features a stellar cast of AnupamKher, SudhirPandey and Divyendu Sharma. With the help of quirky puns and wordplay, director Shree Narayan Singh sheds light on clashes between generations where a son helps his father understand and come to terms with the evolution of society in the present times.

36-year-old Keshav helps his brother Naru run their father’s cycle business. He is still a bachelor because his superstitious father believes that he should only marry a girl who has two thumbs in one hand. He meets Jaya, a well-educated girl from a well-to-do family, and finally wins her after many attempts. Conflict comes knocking on the first day of their marriage, when Jaya discovers that Keshav’s house has no toilet and she leaves. Distraught and desperate, Keshav embarks on a mission to win back his love by battling against the age-old traditions, mind-set, and value system of the society.

Will Keshav’s ingenious plan work? Will he be able to bridge the gap between two clashing ideologies causing a rift in his family?
