Trishaan Singh Maini, plays Sarabjit’s friend in the film
Trishaan Singh Maini, who will soon be seen in Omung Kumar’s biographical drama film Sarbjit. He plays a pivotal role of the character Maninder Singh, best friend to Randeep Hooda’s character Sarbjit Singh.
Q) Share your experience of playing the role ‘Maninder Singh’ in the film ‘Sarbjit’.
In the movie I’m playing a character of Maninder, who is Sarbjit’s best friend who stands by the family in the time of crisis and helps Dalber search Sarbjit. It’s a small role but an important one in the film. Maninder and Sarbjit are partners in crime, their friendship is quite unusual. Not only do they drink together but also play pranks on others and fight (like khushti). Maninder is one character Dalber despises, as she feels because of him he went missing.
Q) How was your equation with Randeep Hooda on the film sets?
It was really good. Randeep is a true inspiration for everyone, the kind of dedication he puts into his job that is quite remarkable. I learnt so many things from him as it was my debut he made me so comfortable during the time of shoot that we got along so well.So for me, it was a dream come true working Randeep Hooda and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan.
Q) Say something about your past life (like career, achievement, etc.).
I moved to Mumbai with a dream of becoming an actor. There are hundreds and thousands who come to this city with the same dream. I knew this journey would not be an easy one and started my career as a model in order to pay my bills and get a foothold in this industry. After this, I started doing theatre to hone my acting skills. Mumbai welcomes you with an open arm, but can also be very harsh on you.
These years have been a lot of struggle and shown me both highs and lows. There have been times when I would be out of work for long, which made it difficult for me to pay my bills or even manage for food to fill my stomach. On the other hand, I got a chance to work with the ‘A listers’ of the Fashion Industry like Manish Malhotra, JJ Valaya and RohitBal and International brands like UCB, Toshiba and Sri Lankan Airlines as a model. Performing at Prithvi Theatre is a privilege for any artist and it was a ‘dream come true’ moment for to me.
Even in the worst of times, I never quit. I was always determined that someday I would get a chance to prove my ability and the good times gave me a boost to work harder and move forward in achieving my goals. So here I am today, to show my acting skills to the world for the first time with Sarbjit.
