Pradipt Kapoor is appointed as the new Chief Information Officer of Bharti Airtel. He will join as the Airtel Management Board member and he will be reporting to Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO, Bharti Airtel.
Welcoming Pradipt Kapoor to Airtel, Gopal Vittal said: “Airtel has always been a magnet for top global talent and we are delighted to have Pradipt on board. He is an accomplished engineering leader and believes in creating value by enabling technology that is focused on outcomes. I am confident his experience will add immense value to Airtel’s digital vision. I wish him the very best.”
Pradipt takes over from Harmeen Mehta. Gopal Vittal added: “Harmeen has contributed immensely to Airtel’s digital transformation and helped build solid Engineering capabilities within the organization. On behalf of everyone at Airtel, I thank Harmeen and wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”
Pradipt has about 25 years of industry experience. He started his career as a Chief Operating Officer (CEO) of Webworth, which was one of the country’s very first Internet Services Company. Kapoor is an Andhra University graduate and has done studies in business at Aston Business School. He has also acquired various other degrees from universities like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Some of Pradipt’s recent experiences include serving as the Vice President, Products Engineering of SITA for more than a decade. The other one is as a Vice President, Global Head of Products and Solutions Engineering at A.P. Moller – Maersk. Pradipt is passionate about utilizing technology to the fullest and transform businesses that bring out value to the entity.
Airtel is a global telecommunication company, headquartered in India. It serves in more than 18 countries all over Africa and South Asia. At September end, the telecom company had a total of 440 million customer base.
