Running is fast growing to be one of the most popular amateur sports undertaken by the increasingly fitness conscious Indian public. People run for fitness, health reasons, some for charity and others for the sheer sense of camaraderie with a burgeoning running community.

Radio Mirchi 98.3FM, India’s largest radio network, brings to you a running event with a difference. For the first time in India, a Neon themed night marathon called Mirchi Neon Run will take place in three cities of Tamilnadu – Chennai, Coimbatore & Madurai and the runners get to take part in a 9.83 km run and a 3 km fun run for families. With neon glow sticks, head bands and neon colored batons the runners will be treated to a night of fun filled music, dance and neon paint celebration post the run. Mirchi Neon Run kick-starts on May 30th in Chennai and 5th June in Coimbatore & 6th June in Madurai and registrations are open on www.mirchineonrun.com.

Mirchi Neon Run is presented by Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB). Commenting on the association Mr. H. S. Upendra Kamath, MD & CEO, TMB says, “TMB has always stood in the forefront of innovation, making TMB one of the fast growing private sector banks. TMB is committed to new ideas and interesting concepts. The bank wants to engage with its customers in the most diverse ways possible. It is in this backdrop that the bank has associated itself with the Mirchi Neon Run on the eve of which, it has introduced a new savings product called TMB Happy Family for the benefit of its customers.”

Commenting on the run, Manoj Mathan, Regional Director – South, Radio Mirchi says, “We have been partners to various runs being held in the country. So when the opportunity came for us to do a run ourselves we gave a ‘Mirchi’ twist to it and in the process we are holding India’s first Neon themed night marathon and the World’s first 9.83km run. We feel that this is a great way to engage with our listeners, work with discerning and forward thinking brands and reinforce our frequency across the state.  We also want to show everyone that Tamilnadu has got a vibrant and safe night life and a great running culture”.

Around 8000 runners are estimated to participate across the three cities. Cash prizes worth 98.3k will be given to the winners of the 9.83 km run and numerous prizes etc. will be offered to the fun run participants. The run will be followed by a UV lit party area complete with dinner, music and Zumbathon to cool off the tired muscles. It promises to be a night to remember.
