8-hour Mission Paani Waterthon to be telecasted on NEWS18
An initiative by News18 and Harpic India, Mission Paani which was launched in 2019, is planned to culminate this Republic Day, i.e., 26th January with Mission Paani Waterthon. This mission has been consistently working towards sensitizing people about water conservation and hygiene. This day shall witness the people of our nation come together for Water Power. To raise awareness about the water crisis in India, the event will emphasize on the theme ‘Paani Ki Kahaani, Bhaarat Ki Zubaani’. Hosted by Akshay Kumar, the campaign ambassador, the 8-hour telethon will begin from 12:30 pm and will feature a host of eminent personalities from different walks of life take the Jal Pratigya, a water oath.
Celebrating the journey and impact of the campaign will witness various notable personalities and celebrities such as Sadhguru, Mallika Sarabhai, Gul Panag, Mandira Bedi, Bhumi Pednekar, Smriti Mandhana, Dia Mirza, AR Rahman, Neha Dhupia, HH Chidanand Swami, Prasoon Joshi, Vishwanathan Anand, Rajkumar Rao and among others. In addition to that, including, Kiren Rijiju — Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports (I/C); Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ — Minister, Human Resource Development, Government of India; Dr. Harsh Vardhan — Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Science & Tech, Earth Sciences, Govt of India; Gajendra Singh Shekhawat — Minister of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, RD & GR; Nitin Gadkari — Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Government of India and Smriti Irani — Union Cabinet Minister for Textiles and Women & Child Development, a host of Union ministers and political dignitaries shall also feature in the event. This event will be broadcasted on Network18’s TV news channels and digital platforms and it will also see Yogi Adityanath, Aaditya Thackeray, Vijay Rupani among other state ministers talking to the public.
The event will recognize and felicitate the activists, organisations and water warriors who’ve led from the front and made a telling contribution to the world of water conservation during the telethon. The event shall also witness live song and dance performances by Esha Deol, Malini Awasthi, Shaan and the evergreen Indian Ocean, making the day all the more engaging for viewers. And leaving the audiences in awe, there will also be an underwater dance by Hydroman.
