Bollywood Actor Aamir Khan Will Face Off Against Viswanathan Anand for Akshaya Patra

As a part of the celebrity edition, the versatile actor and an ardent chess lover, Aamir Khan will be virtually playing an exhibition match against the Indian chess grandmaster & former world champion, Mr. Viswanathan Anand. YouTube Channel, Chesscom India will be streaming this live on the 13th of June, 2021 at 5.00 pm.

Bollywood celebrities & Corporate leaders from around the world will feature in this celebrity edition. International chess player Prachura P.P and Chess.com India associate with The Akshaya Patra Foundation to raise funds to feed the needy PAN India. All the proceeds of this event will go towards serving individuals and families from vulnerable communities who have been affected by this global pandemic.

Viswanathan Anand is an Indian chess grandmaster and former world chess champion. In 1988, Anand became the first grandmaster from India. He is one of the few players to have surpassed an Elo rating of 2800, a feat he first achieved in 2006. He is a five-time world chess championship.

Among others, Anand has received Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and was awarded India’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan. With this, he became the first sportsperson to receive this award.

Aamir Khan is an Indian actor, director, filmmaker, and television talk show host. Khan has become one of the most popular and influential actors of Indian cinema through his career spanning over 30 years in Hindi films.

He is also the recipient of various awards including nine Filmfare Awards, four National Film Awards, and an AACTA Award. The Government of India has honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010.
