Sunday morning featured a power packed and majestic line-up of thoroughbred horses on the race-track climaxing with the blue ribbon race – the Kingfisher Bangalore Derby 2015.
Angel Dust kept her date with destiny in the most anticipated event of the Indian racing calendar, The Kingfisher Derby, with a remarkable performance in front of a mammoth crowd. Trained by S.S.Attaollahi and jockeyed by P. Trevor, Angel Dust thundered towards victory to win the coveted Silver Horse trophy. The competition was tight between Angel Dust and Desert God but at the very last second, Angel Dust galloped away at lightning speed to claim the ultimate fame!
Angel Dust’s owner company United Racing & Bloodstock Breeders, took home Rs 1.5 crore as prize money and were immensely proud of their achievement while receiving the trophy from Mr. Samar Singh Sheikhawat, Senior Vice President, Marketing, United Breweries Ltd. and Mr. Harimohan Naidu, Chairman, BTC.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Samar Singh Sheikhawat, said, “A stellar event and an important page in the history of Bangalore, the Kingfisher Derby is a celebration of equestrian excellence and paramount glamour and style. With a 28 year old regal legacy, the Kingfisher Derby is one of the city’s oldest and most eagerly anticipated sporting events. I would like to congratulate the winner and thank the race enthusiasts who have over the years turned out in great numbers to make it a racing spectacle.”
The 28th edition of the Kingfisher Derby was witnessed by over 20,000 people who cheered for their favourite horses. An amalgamation of fashion and class, with an infusion of adrenalin made for a perfect Sunday afternoon. The country’s most prestigious racing event saw the who’s who of the city celebrate the sport and soak into the spirit of the game. Amongst the crème da la crème at the Derby, DJ Aqeel and Anita Kohlay were spotted dressed impeccably in classic Derby wear and having a great time.
Each year, the Kingfisher Derby crowns the best equine athlete and is an example of a great lifestyle sporting event in India. It attracts the best of the jockeys and the finest horses from across the world that train vigorously to compete for the coveted prize and provide an enthralling on-track experience.
