Discovery Plus is streaming Being Serena for Indian audiences
Discovery Plus is all set to stream the Emmy nominated sports documentary series Being Serena, that is based on the life of the world No. 1 tennis champion, Serena Williams. Produced by HBO Sports and IMG’s Original Content it is a five episode documentary that showcases the ace’s personal and professional life, starting for her pregnancy to her motherhood to comeback and more. The series starts from November 17.
Serena William’s success story consists of 23 singles women’s grand slam titles and 4 Olympic Gold Medals. Even after she came back after embracing motherhood, Serena rose to new heights of her career. Between the year 2018 to 2019, she qualified for four grand slams. And, when she is not on tennis court, she helps women and minorities by funding their businesses via her VC Serena Williams.
Some of the prestigious awards, that she has won for her excellence in tennis are Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year honors in 2015 and she is also a a four-time awardee of the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year, first in 2002 and most recently in 2015.
Speaking on the occasion, the all-time great women’s singles tennis player, Serena Williams said, “Being Serena is very close to my heart – it captured my life during some of the most unforgettable and challenging moments in a really honest way. For me, Being Serena is a tribute to all of the women who have gotten back to work – or in my case back on the court – after becoming a mother. I am excited that my fans in India will have a chance to see my story.”
