Hitwicket Superstars, the winner of PM Modi’s AatmaNirbhar App Innovation Challenge launched Ra1 as its new in game character. Ra1 is based on the powerful mythological character in one of Hinduism’s epic Ramayana. This is the first time in mobile gaming history of India, that a mythological character has been added to any mobile game. This has been done to celebrate our hon’ble PM’s vision for games inspired by Indian Mythology & Folklore and the festival of lights.
Mythology has always been a part of gaming industry. Starting from the global gaming titles like ‘God of War’ and ‘Assassin’s Creed’ are based on Arabian and Greek folklore and has received appreciation from all over the world. Also, there are a few mobile games of Japan and China, that have brought characters with their cultural significance.
“Marrying this cultural element to the vehicle of mobile gaming, we seek not only to add greater value to our users’ experience, but to represent the richness and diversity of Indian Mythology and Folklore”, says Kashyap Reddy, Co-founder, Hitwicket.
Hitwicket Superstars is a Multiplayer Cricket Strategy game with real users taken into the virtual world. In these games, the users can own and manage a cricket team of superheroes and where all of the team members has a distinctive super speciality or superpower of their own. This newly skinned superstar will be available for an upcoming character who can be upgraded to level 2 as ‘Thaillava’ and and then to a level 3 skin for the classic ‘Ra 1’ look.
Indian culture is one of the oldest and richest in known civilization and has a lot to add particularly to gaming and popular media. With more elements of myths and Indian folklore incorporated in highly accessible forms of entertainment like Indian developers mobile gaming and gamers can also step onto the global pedestal and still be unique with the depth that our culture is known for.
