ShareChat Launches Sharechat Talkies

ShareChat, India’s fastest growing vernacular social media app, today announced its foray in original video content under the banner of ShareChat Talkies. Kicking off the season of love, the first video series titled Ishq Mohalla brings viewers a fun boy meets girl next-door romance. The short 5-part series comprising of 8-10 minutes videos has been created by Hera Pheri Films, a budding production house from Bangalore.

A first-of-its-kind regional language/vernacular social networking platform, ShareChat is a home-grown platform developed keeping in mind the needs of Indian audience across the country. With 26 million registered users, ShareChat is available in 10 languages including Hindi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Odia and Kannada.  Its latest and most ambitious initiative, ShareChat Talkies has been launched with an aim to tap film studios/content curators and provide them a scalable platform to reach users across the country.

According to recent industry reports, regional languages have surpassed English highlighting the rapid shift of digital users towards regional content consumption. Against this rising trend and with an aim to capture eyeballs of regional audience, ShareChat Talkies will work with budding film studios to launch vernacular video content on ShareChat.

In the coming months, ShareChat plans to launch 4-5 original series in 2018 across various genres of romance, humour, thriller etc. in languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Apart from aggregating Content-On-Demand on its platform, ShareChat will also invest in driving distribution and digital reach for Talkies on its platform.
