GMR Group won the award for the PR campaign undertaken by the corporate communication team on the ‘Reopening of Terminal 2 (T2) of Delhi Airport’. The communications team adopted multi-pronged strategy to communicate with millions of passengers through traditional media and social media, who fly to and from Delhi Airport. The Ministry of Civil Aviation was also roped in to iron out differences and enable shifting of operations by three of India’s leading low cost carriers to T2.
The coveted annual PR World Awards program encompasses the world’s best in recognizing public relations, marketing, corporate communications, investor relations, and business development professionals, teams, departments, and achievements from every major industry in the world.
Organizations from all over the world are eligible to submit nominations including public and private, for-profit and non-profit, largest to smallest and new start-ups.
More than 80 judges from a broad spectrum of industry voices from around the world participated and their average scores determined the 2018 award winners.
The Winners will be honoured in San Francisco on Monday, July 30, 2018 during the annual SVUS Red Carpet Awards Ceremony Dinner in San Francisco attended by the finalists, winners, judges and industry peers.

The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi has climbed to ‘The World’s No. 1 Airport’ position from 101st rank, since GMR Group took over operations in 2006. The airport consistently moved up in rakings and won awards in various categories of service quality and passenger experience. Recently, IGI Airport reclaimed ‘The World’s No. 1 Airport’ award in the highest category – over 40 million passengers per annum, given by Airport Council International.
The GMR Group has spent Rs 100 crore to double the capacity of the Terminal 2 to 12 million passengers. The T2 now provides seamless experience to flyers including adequate check-in counters, X-ray machines, baggage reclaim belts and aerobridges & parking bays for aircraft.
