The Director, Dhrubo Banerjee said “Golondaaj is an extremely special film and one of the main focuses of making this movie is to make people know about the brave story of Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari, who gave a new face to the sports culture of India, back in late 1800’s. It is a great initiative taken by SVF to release it in Hindi Language by which it will reach to the mass all over India. Golondaaj will make every Indian proud and I am sure about this fact.”
The lead actor of the movie who played the character of Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari, Bengali Superstar Dev goes on to say “I am glad that we were able to bring back people to the theatres in Bengal with Golondaaj. It was an honour for me to play Nagendra prasad Sarbadhikari’s character on screen; the huge response from the Bengali audience and the love showered by them for the movie is extremely delightful, which also made it the biggest blockbuster Bengali movie of 2021. I hope that with the Hindi release, the nationwide audience will also give us the same appreciation. It is a proud moment for us that we are about to present the heroic journey of The Father of Indian Football, all over India. Golondaaj will definitely make a mark in the hearts of every Indian viewer.”
Talking about the Hindi release of Golondaaj, Mahendra Soni, Co-founder & Director of SVF said, “Dhrubo’s deep research on the project and Dev’s portrayal of Sarbadhikari is hugely appreciated and are the prime reason for the delightful experience on screen. It was a pleasure to see Golondaaj performing so well across Bengal. Golondaaj is a grand-scale production and releasing the film at a 50% occupancy situation was a difficult decision to make. Even though there were other challenges of releasing this film, the astounding results at the box office compensated for the enormous amount of hard work and risk. We want Golondaaj to reach as many people as possible. It’s the story of one unsung hero who makes every Indian proud. Now since we are coming back to normalcy, I feel people coming back to cinemas is a big thing to be celebrated. The re-opening of theatres in Maharashtra is just what we needed for the grand release.”
