Jojo App Revives Gujarat’s Most Celebrated Sports Drama With Medal

TLDR: JoJo App is relaunching ‘MEDAL’, a celebrated Gujarati sports drama film, as the platform’s first long-format Gujarati web series. The series, starring Jayesh More and Kinjal Rajpriya, aims to offer a deeper narrative and inspire audiences, marking a milestone for regional content on the OTT platform.

JoJo App, committed to redefining regional entertainment, is proud to bring back one of Gujarat’s most loved and talked-about stories — MEDAL. The movie released on 25th November, 2022, and after receiving rave reviews from the audiences, the makers have planned something special for the audience as the inspiring sports drama returns in an all-new avatar as the first-ever long-format Gujarati web series, streaming exclusively on JoJo App. This move marks a milestone for the platform as it continues to back authentic, homegrown storytelling with the scale and emotion audiences deserve.

MEDAL follows Ajit, a passionate young English teacher who rejects a dream job at a private school to teach in a rural government school. Battling societal stigma and limited resources, he sets out to train his students for the prestigious Khel Kala Mahakumbh. What begins as a fight for a medal soon becomes a journey of dignity, dreams, and self-belief — proving that victory isn’t always measured on the podium.

Starring Jayesh More, Kinjal Rajpriya, Hemang Dave, Chetan Daiya, and Maulik Nayak, the series builds on the film’s emotional core while taking the narrative deeper, giving audiences more time to connect with the characters and their struggles.

Speaking about returning to the role, Jayesh More said, “Ajit is not just a character; he’s a reflection of every teacher who chooses impact over comfort. This series format on JoJo App gave me the chance to explore his journey with more depth, and I’m looking forward to seeing how audiences connect with it in this new chapter.”

Kinjal Rajpriya shared, “Anjali’s role in MEDAL is one of quiet strength. With JoJo bringing it back as a series, we’ve been able to show more of the moments that make big dreams possible. I’m eager to hear how audiences respond to this expanded storytelling.”

Mr. Dhruvin Shah, Founder and CEO of JOJO app, added, “At JoJo, our goal is to empower regional voices and bring stories from every corner of India to a global stage. MEDAL perfectly reflects our commitment to impactful, culturally rich storytelling. By reimagining it as Gujarat’s first long-format series, we aim to give audiences a deeper, more immersive experience while setting new benchmarks for regional content. We’re confident this story will inspire, entertain, and spark conversations well beyond the screen.”

With its mix of sportsmanship, rural grit, and emotional resonance, MEDAL is set to inspire a new wave of audiences, proving that some stories only grow stronger when told again.
