India’s leading entertainment destination, BookMyShow has rolled out the ‘My Safety First’ feature – the first-ever safety shield tag in collaboration with cinema partners all over India. The feature will be accessible on the web portal as well as the app.
It’s been more than six months since we all being home due to the pandemic. We are all set to meet up again after a long 6 months. As per the government announcement, theaters are all set to reopen under the guidelines from the 15th of October. We missed the theaters a lot in the past few months but now is the time to say, ‘Hello big screen!’
The ‘My Safety First’ will help create awareness about the various levels of safety and hygiene measures available in different cinemas or theatres listed on BookMyShow. The safety shield feature will highlight the best practices being followed by all cinemas across India.
The various safety indicators across every cinema listed on the platform are:-
- In-cinema seat distancing, thermal screening, contactless security check.
- Availability of hand sanitizers, daily temperature checks for staff members.
- Availability of packaged food & beverages, limited occupancy in restrooms.
- Compulsory masks, social distancing in cinema premises, sanitization before every show, amongst others.
- Enabling users to see the various safety measures employed by cinemas.

BookMyShow conducted a survey on Covid-19 a while back, titled ‘Back To Out-of-Home Entertainment’. It was conducted with 4000 respondents who were active BookMyShow transactors. As per the reports, 54% of Indian entertainment lovers are eager to get to theatres within 15-90 days of the lockdown lifting. The report put the criticality of safety measures squarely at the center of users’ preferences as 98% of respondents expected cinemas to implement strict safety and hygiene measures and 85% of consumers preferred a contactless entertainment experience by purchasing their tickets online with the M-ticket & e-ticket option.
The feature can easily be deduced to be an extension of this report. It can be expected to guard the safety interest of customers. The company has also initiated to offer a range of virtual entertainment offerings across genres. It launched India’s first streaming platform for live entertainment, BookMyShow Online. The platform provides a unique and amazing entertainment content line-up to the customers.
